Support multisignature and social recovery patterns that reduce single points of failure without forcing custodial tradeoffs. Include interactive, scenario-based onboarding that walks users through recovery steps and the consequences of different custody models so choices reflect users’ social and territorial realities.
Trade-offs and consequences
Clear transaction previews and explicit permission prompts improve security but can slow novice users if presented badly. Design must also account for cultural differences in trust of institutions, local regulation that mandates identity checks, and environmental constraints like intermittent connectivity and low-power devices in some territories. Balancing these factors determines whether a wallet empowers autonomy or funnels users toward custodial services. Well-crafted UX reduces error rates, lowers support costs, and broadens adoption while preserving the decentralization that underpins long-term resilience.
